Critic, Literary Scholar ASKAROV TENDIK


Critic and literary scholar T. Askarov was born on December 18, 1937, in the village of Kyzyl-Ozgoryush, Toktogul district, Osh region.
In 1955, he graduated from Kyrgyz Secondary School No. 5 named after A. S. Pushkin in Frunze, and in 1960, he graduated from the philological faculty of KGU.
From 1960 to 1963, he studied in the graduate school of the Institute of Philosophy and Law of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR.
In 1964, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Philosophical Sciences. In the following years, he worked as a junior researcher, scientific secretary of the same Institute, and deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Kyrgyzstan Madeniyaty".
From 1967 to 1971, he held a responsible position in the apparatus of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan, and from 1971 to 1986, he was the first secretary of the board of the Union of Writers of Kyrgyzstan.
Since 1986, he has been working again at the Institute of Philosophy and Law of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR.
At various times, T. Askarov has published a number of critical articles and scientific works on issues of Marxist-Leninist aesthetics, literary criticism, and artistic culture.
He has been a member of the CPSU since 1966 and a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1965.
He has been awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor, the Order of Friendship of Peoples, the medals "For Valorous Labor. In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of V. I. Lenin," and an honorary diploma from the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR.
He was elected a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan, a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR of the VIII—XI convocations, chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR of the XI convocation, and repeatedly a member of the Frunze City Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan, as well as secretary of the board of the Union of Writers of the USSR.
