Prose Writer, Critic Esenbek Mederbekov
Prose writer and critic E. Mederbekov was born in the village of Oktyabr in the Sokuluk district of the Kirghiz SSR to a collective farmer's family. In 1954, he graduated from Kyrgyz Secondary School No. 5 named after A. S. Pushkin in Frunze, and in 1959, he graduated from the Russian department of the philological faculty of KGU.
Since 1959, he worked as a laborer at various industrial enterprises in Frunze, and from 1962, he has been working as an editor at the State Committee for Television and Radio of the Kirghiz SSR. Since 1974, he has served as a literary employee, head of department, and deputy chief editor at the editorial office of the magazine "Ala-Too".
The writer's first book was a collection of essays titled "Dosumdun tapshyrmasy" ("A Friend's Assignment"), published in 1968. He is the author of several collections of essays, novellas, short stories, and the novel "Kyzyl zhalyn" ("Red Flame"). He translated S. Antonov's stories under the title "Glavny vopros" ("The Main Question") (1971).
A member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1963, and a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1970.
Awarded the medal "For Valorous Labor. In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of V. I. Lenin".
