Poet and prose writer I. Mansurov was born on December 29, 1936—September 9, 1988, in the village of Orto-Oryukty, Issyk-Kul district, Issyk-Kul region, in a peasant family. In 1954, he graduated from Kyrgyz Secondary School No. 5 named after A. S. Pushkin in Frunze, and in 1961, he graduated from the philological faculty of KGU.He began his labor biography in 1961 as an editor, then was appointed deputy chief editor of the State Committee for Television and Radio of the Kyrgyz SSR. From 1974, he worked as the head of a department at the publishing house "Kyrgyzstan," and from 1976, he was a literary employee at the editorial office of the magazine "Ala-Too," while also serving as a literary consultant at the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan.
He began publishing in 1953. His first poetry collection "Kerimsel" ("The Breeze") was published in 1961. The second book was a collection of stories "Kosh Buchur" ("The Trees Are Budding"), published in 1971. He participated in poetic translations of collective collections.
He has been a member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1972 and a member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR since 1967.
