Critic and translator O. Ibraimov was born on January 5, 1954, in the village of Alaykuu, Soviet District, Osh Region, in a peasant family.
In 1971, he graduated from high school in his native village, and in 1978, he graduated from the philological faculty of the KGU named after the 50th anniversary of the USSR.
In 1985, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Philological Sciences.
He began his labor biography in 1971 as a collective farmer in his native village. In 1978, he was assigned to a high school in the Soviet District of Osh Region as a teacher of Russian language and literature.
Since 1979, he worked as a junior researcher at the Institute of Language and Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR. Since 1982, he has been working as a teacher, senior teacher, and since 1988, as an associate professor in the Department of Russian and Foreign Literature at the KJPI named after V. V. Mayakovsky.
He has been publishing since 1975. The literary-critical works of O. Ibraimov address current issues of the contemporary literary process in the republic. The writer's first book was a collection of literary-critical articles titled "Адабий классиканын азыркы емуру" ("Literary Classics and Their Contemporary Life"), published in 1983. He is also engaged in scientific and artistic translation. He has translated works by A. P. Chekhov, K. Chukovsky, V. Astafyev, A. Alekhin, and others into Kyrgyz.
He has been a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1987.
