Prose Writer Duyshen Sulaymanov
Prose writer D. Su laymanov was born in the village of Jilaymash in the Sokuluk district of the Kyrgyz SSR into a peasant family. In 1947, he graduated from Kyrgyz Secondary School No. 5 named after A. S. Pushkin in Frunze, and in 1952 — from the philological faculty of KGU.
He began his labor biography in 1947 as a pioneer leader at the M. I. Kalinin Secondary School in the Sokuluk district. From 1952 to 1954, he worked as a junior researcher at the Institute of Language and Literature of the Kyrgyz Academy of Sciences, and from 1955, he served as a senior editor at the "Kyrgyzstan" publishing house, and from 1960, as a senior editor and head of the editorial department at the "Mektep" publishing house.
He began his creative biography as a poet. He has been published since 1948. Since 1952, he has been actively engaged in literary criticism and literary studies, being the author of a number of articles on the works of Toktogul Satylganov, Togolok Moldo, and others, works on Kyrgyz folklore and epic, compiler of several collections of Kyrgyz folk tales, the epic "Kodzhozhash," and single volumes of Toktogul, Togolok Moldo, K-Akiyev, O. Bolebalaev, and others, and one of the co-authors of "Essays on the History of Kyrgyz Soviet Literature," published in 1961 in Kyrgyz and Russian.
D. Su laymanov is the author of numerous original works: fairy tales for children, stories published in his native and Russian languages. His fairy tale "Bread" was published in Estonian in 1985. A significant part of the writer's work is devoted to translation. He has translated children's fairy tales by K. Chukovsky, the Brothers Grimm, Indian folk tales, and stories by L. Tolstoy, A. Tamsaare, and others.
He has been a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1970 and a member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR since 1957.
He has been awarded certificates of honor from the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR.
He is a distinguished worker of the press of the USSR (1967).
