
Prose writer K. Ashimbaev was born on September 10, 1932, in the village of Kairma-Aryk, Ak-Suy district, Issyk-Kul region, in a peasant family.
In 1947, he graduated from a seven-year school in his native village, in 1950 — from Sary-Kamysh Secondary School, in 1952 — from Przhevalsky Teacher's Institute, and in 1966 — from the correspondence department of journalism at the Philological Faculty of K. GU.
Since 1952, he has worked as a teacher and deputy director in schools in the Kochkor district of Naryn region, and since 1959 — as a literary employee at the editorial office of the newspaper "Leninchil Zhas," head of the department at the editorial office of the newspaper "Mugalimder Gazetasy," senior correspondent for the newspaper "Kyrgyzstan Madeniyaty," editor at the magazine "Den Sooluk," and editor of the feuilleton department at the magazine "Chalkan."
K. Ashimbaev's creative biography begins with the publication in 1957 of the story "Father's Treatment" in the magazine "Zhas Leninchi." In 1963, his first collection of stories and novellas "Kek Konvert" ("Blue Envelope") was published. A significant work in the writer's oeuvre is the novel "Intergelpo," which tells about the fraternal assistance of Czech communists in the formation of the working class in Kyrgyzstan. He is the author of many humorous and satirical stories, some of which have been published in Russian.
A member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1962, a member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1976, and a member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR since 1960.
He has been awarded medals "For Valorous Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945," "Veteran of Labor," and others, as well as certificates of honor from the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR and certificates from the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan.
