Prose writer and poet Shabdanbay Abdyramanov


Prose writer and poet Sh. Abdyramanov was born on December 24, 1930, in the village of Kyz-Köl, Suak district, Osh region, in a peasant family.
In 1943, he graduated from a seven-year school, in 1948—from Jalal-Abad Pedagogical School, in 1950—from a one-year Jalal-Abad Teacher's Institute, in 1959—from the correspondence department of the Philological Faculty of KGU, and in 1964—from the Higher Literary Courses under the USSR Union of Writers in Moscow.
He began his labor biography in 1943 as a collective farm worker, worked as a teacher from 1950 to 1952, and served as the director of Kyz-Köl Secondary School from 1952 to 1959. In 1964, he was appointed as a literary consultant, and in 1966— as the responsible secretary of the Osh regional branch of the Union of Writers of Kyrgyzstan. In the following years, he worked as a correspondent for the Osh regional newspaper "Lenin yolu".
He began his creative path as a poet in 1950. In 1957, he published his first poetry collection "May tunundé" ("On a May Night"),
Since 1959, he has been performing as a prose writer. In 1960, the novella "Okum" ("Sentence") was published. The writer is the author of several major novels depicting the formation of the collective farm peasantry and the working class of Kyrgyzstan. He actively writes articles in defense of the ecology of southern Kyrgyzstan in the press. Works by Sh. Abdyramanov have been published in Russian and Uzbek. He is the author of several plays and engages in translation work.
A member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1953, a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1958.
Awarded a Certificate of Honor from the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR.
