Prose Writer Gennady Petrukhin

Prose writer G. Petrukhin was born on December 17, 1934, in the city of Aktobe in a military family.
In 1950, he graduated from high school, and in 1957— from the historical faculty of KazGU named after S. M. Kirov.
From 1960 to 1962, he was a student at the Central Committee School under the Central Committee of the Komsomol.
He began his career as a librarian in a high school in 1950, in 1957 he worked as the responsible secretary of the Aktobe district newspaper "Krasnoe Znamya," from 1958— as the responsible secretary of the newspaper "Komsomolets of Kyrgyzstan," from 1963— in the apparatus of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan, from 1971— as deputy chairman of the State Committee for Vocational Education of the republic, and from 1974— as deputy chairman of the State Publishing Committee of the Kyrgyz SSR.
Since 1979— he has been a pensioner, engaged in creative work.
He has been published since 1962. The first publication of the writer was a collection of essays (co-authored) titled "Magistral," released in 1967. His first independent book was a collection of novellas and short stories titled "Reflections," published in 1977. He is the author of two novels, several novellas and short stories, essays, and journalistic articles.
A member of the CPSU since 1959, a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1982.
Awarded medals "For Valorous Labor. In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of V. I. Lenin," "For Labor Distinction," and Honorary Certificates from the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz SSR.
