Prose writer Musa MuratalievProse writer M. Murataliev was born in the village of At-Bashi in the Naryn region to a family of a forestry worker. In 1959, he graduated from Secondary School No. 1 named after Toktogul Satylganov in Naryn, and in 1970— from the A. M. Gorky Literary Institute.
He began his labor biography in 1959 as a metal detector at the Chimbulak geological party of the Chui exploratory expedition. He then worked as a concrete worker at SMU No. 5 in Frunze, as a monitor-controller at the Frunze RES, and as a literary employee at the editorial office of the mass newspaper "Dzerzhinets" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz SSR. Since 1970, he has been a correspondent for the newspaper "Soviet Kyrgyzstan" in the Naryn region, editor of literary and dramatic broadcasting at the State Committee of Television and Radio of the Kyrgyz SSR, and since 1972— a correspondent for the APN in Kyrgyzstan. Since 1974, he has been a literary consultant on Kyrgyz literature at the Board of the Union of Writers of the USSR in Moscow.
He has been published since 1965. His first book "Tushko juyk" ("Closer to Noon") was published in 1970. He is the author of several collections of novellas and short stories, novels published in his native, Russian, Estonian, Latvian, and Uzbek languages. The novella "Algyrim" ("My Grasp") was published in 1982 in the magazine "Soviet Literature," which is published in 15 languages worldwide.
He has been a member of the CPSU since 1963 and a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1974.
He was awarded the medal "For Labor Distinction" and the title "Veteran of Labor".
