
Prose writer A. Ivanov was born on September 15, 1938, in the city of Chimkent, Kazakh SSR, in a family of civil servants. In 1958, he graduated from high school, and in 1962 — from the philological faculty of KGU.
He began his career in 1962 as a literary staff member at the editorial office of the newspaper "Komsomolets of Kyrgyzstan," later working there as the head of a department.
Since 1965, he has been working as a literary staff member and deputy editor of the newspaper "Komsomolets of Tajikistan" in Dushanbe.
Since 1969, he has been working as an editor and deputy director of television programs at the State Committee for Television and Radio of the Kyrgyz SSR.
Since 1971, he has been an instructor and assistant to the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan, and in 1984, he was appointed chief editor of the magazine "Literary Kyrgyzstan."
He has been published since 1962. His first book, a collection of essays titled "Pamir Tales," was published in 1969 in Dushanbe. He is the author of two collections of essays and five collections of novellas and short stories.
A member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1966 and a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1976. Awarded the medal "For Labor Distinction."
