Gaparov Murza

Screenwriter. Born on March 22, 1936, in the village of Noigut, Nookat District, Osh Region of the Kyrgyz SSR, in a peasant family. After graduating from high school in 1954, he worked in his native collective farm named after M. I. Kalinin, as a worker in a geological exploration team. From 1957 to 1962, he studied at the philological faculty of Kyrgyz State University. In 1962-1963, he was a teacher of the Kyrgyz language and literature at an 8-year school in the Murghab District of the Tajik SSR. From 1963 to 1965, he was an editor at the Frunze Television Studio. From 1965 to 1967, he attended advanced courses for screenwriters and directors in Moscow. After graduation, he worked for almost a year as an editor at the "Kyrgyzfilm" studio, and from 1968, he continued in the same position at "Kyrgyztelefilm." From 1971 to 1973, he was a consultant for the board of the Union of Cinematographers of Kyrgyzstan. Since 1975, he has been the head of the literary department of the Osh Kyrgyz Drama Theater.

M. Gaparov is the author of the script for the documentary film "Prospect" (1968), the two-part essay "Words" (1969), and the short feature films "Tenant" (1969) by U. Ibragimov, and "It's Not a Disaster" (co-authored with R. Ibragimbekov, 1969) by A. Vidugiris. In his largest work—the script for the feature film "Street" (1972) by G. Bazarov—his ability to see the diversity of life, to notice serious socio-psychological changes in the people of the modern village, and to convey this in lyrical-comedic conflicts and situations is most fully revealed. M. Gaparov continues to write for documentary cinema. He is credited with the scripts for the films "Daughter of the Earth" (1974)—a story about the remarkable worker of the collective fields, twice Hero of Socialist Labor Zuurakan Kainazarova—and "Osh Weavers" (1973)—about the Osh textile combine named after the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution.

As an editor, M. Gaparov participated in the creation of the documentary essays "Kyrgyztelefilm" "Where Swans Arrive" (1968) and "The Golden Fleece" (1969).

Member of the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR since 1971.
