Poet, Playwright Raikan Shukurbeков

In 1933, he was accepted as an actor at the Kyrgyz Drama Theater. During the Great Patriotic War, he served at the front, and in 1943, after suffering a severe injury, he returned as a disabled veteran.
R. Shukurbeikov's first story, "Zharkynai," was published in 1929, and his novella "Too elinin baatyry" ("Hero of the Mountain People"), dedicated to the historical events of 1916, was published in 1936. He is the author of many poetic works, fables, fairy tales, and stories for children. A significant part of the writer's work is devoted to drama. In 1934, his first multi-act play "Borba" was staged at the Kyrgyz Drama Theater, where the playwright himself played one of the leading roles. In 1935, he created the plays "Sredi mogil" and "Aidar," about the new collective farm life in the Kyrgyz village, and the comedy "Dzhapalak Dzhatpasov," which brought him success as a playwright. In 1959, he created a large multi-act drama "Nadezhda poet" dedicated to the life of Toktogul Satylganov. He wrote numerous interludes for the Kyrgyz stage. His work in the field of artistic translation into the Kyrgyz language of the classics of world and Russian literature is significant. He translated works by Ferdowsi, A. Griboedov, I. Krylov, M. Gorky, V. Schiller, Molière, and others.
R. Shukurbeikov's works have been published in Russian and Polish.
He was a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1942 and a member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1936.
He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, medals "For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945," and a Certificate of Honor from the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR.
