Afanasev Vitaly Arkadevich (1928-1993), Doctor of Chemical Sciences (1973), Professor (1974), Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR (1979).Russian. Born in the city of Saratov. Graduated from Saratov State University (1952), postgraduate studies at the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.
Worked as a research associate, deputy director, head of the laboratory, director of the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences, head of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Specialist in the field of organic catalysis. Awarded medals of the USSR, a Certificate of Honor and an Honorary Certificate from the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR. Published over 280 scientific works, including 14 monographs, textbooks, and teaching aids, and 24 inventions. Under his supervision, 4 doctoral and 23 candidate dissertations were defended.
