Critic J. Abdraimov was born in the village of Kichi-Kemin in the Kemin district of the Kyrgyz SSR in a peasant family.
In 1952, he graduated from Kichi-Kemin Secondary School, and in 1958 — from the philological faculty of KSU.
In 1952, he worked as the head of the club in his native village, from 1958 to 1962 — as a junior editor and editor at the publishing house "Kyrgyzstan," from 1962 to 1970 — as the head of the criticism department at the editorial office of the magazine "Ala-Too," and from 1973 to 1979 — as a correspondent for the newspaper "Kyrgyzstan Madeniyaty."
Since 1979, until the end of his life, he was a pensioner due to disability.
He began to publish in the press in 1958. He is the author of numerous literary-critical articles on issues of Kyrgyz Soviet poetry and the works of individual writers. His first book "Zhyldyzduu yrlard" ("Starry Poems"), published in 1962, was dedicated to the work of the people's poet of Kyrgyzstan A. Toktomushev.
He has been a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1971.
