Critic, literary scholar K. Dautov


Critic and literary scholar K. Dautov was born in the village of Uch-Tyube in the Alay district of the Osh region in a peasant family.
In 1958, he graduated from the Toktogul Secondary School in the Karasuu district, in 1961 — from the Republican Cultural and Educational College in the city of Tokmak, and in 1969 — from the Philological Faculty of KSU.
From 1970 to 1973, he studied in the graduate school of the A. M. Gorky Institute of World Literature of the USSR Academy of Sciences. In 1973, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Philological Sciences.
From 1961 to 1964, he served in the ranks of the Soviet Army. Since 1973, he worked as the head of the literature and art editorial board of KSE, from 1976 to 1981 — as the head of the Soviet literature sector at the Institute of Language and Literature of the Kyrgyz SSR Academy of Sciences, from 1984 — as a senior lecturer at the Department of Kyrgyz Literature of KSU named after the 50th anniversary of the USSR, and from 1985 to 1986 — as the head of the department at the editorial office of the newspaper "Kyrgyzstan Madeniyaty". He is currently engaged in creative work.
He has been involved in literary and critical creativity since the mid-1960s. His first collection of literary and critical articles "Yrdyn emuru" ("The Fate of Poetry") was published in 1977. In his works, the writer addresses the pressing issues of Kyrgyz Soviet literature at the present stage.
Member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1978.
