Poet, translator, critic Aman Toktogulov Poet, translator, critic A. Toktogulov was born on June 26, 1945, in the village of Kopure-Bazar, Talas district of the Talas region, in a peasant family. In 1962, he graduated from high school, and in 1967, he graduated from the philological faculty of KSU.

He began his labor biography in 1967 as a literary employee at the editorial office of the newspaper "Kyrgyzstan Madeniyaty." From 1973 to 1974, he served as the deputy editor-in-chief of this newspaper, and from 1972 to 1973, he worked as the head of the criticism department at the editorial office of the magazine "Ala-Too." In 1976, he was appointed deputy head of the Kyrgyz branch of VAAAP, and since 1982, he has been in military service.

He began his creative biography as a poet. He has been published since 1963. His first collection of literary-critical articles "Poetryga mamile" ("Attitude to Poetry") was published in 1975. He is the author of two poetry collections. A significant part of the writer's work is devoted to artistic translation. He translated R. Gamzatov's book "My Dagestan," fables by I. Krylov, plays by N. Pogodin, V. Molière, Hungarian playwright L. Dürko, and others into Kyrgyz. He is a co-author of the translation of Ch. Aitmatov's novel "The Plague" into Kyrgyz.

A member of the CPSU since 1974, a member of the USSR Union of Writers since 1975.
