Prose Writer, Translator Bakan Sexenbaev

In 1949, he graduated from high school, and in 1962— from the philological faculty of KGU.
He began his working biography in 1949 as a teacher at the seven-year school of the "Shamsi" state farm in the Chuy region.
From 1954 to 1957, he served in the ranks of the Soviet Army.
From 1962 to 1967, he worked as a literary employee at the editorial office of the newspaper "Sovet tik Kyrgyzstan," from 1971 to 1981— head of the department at the publishing house "Kyrgyzstan," and since 1981, he has been the responsible secretary of the Main Editorial Office of the Institute of Party History under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan.
He has been published since the early 1960s. The writer's first book was a collection of essays "Chyndyk jana legenda" ("Truth and Legend"), published in 1970. He is the author of several collections of essays, novellas, and short stories. A significant part of the writer's work is devoted to artistic translation. He has translated into Kyrgyz the novels of S. Zaligin "Solenaya pyad" (Salted Palm), A. Chakovsky "Pobeda" (Victory), novellas by V. Latsis "Zemlya i more" (Land and Sea), S. Shakibaev "Padeniye 'Bol'shogo Turkestana'" (The Fall of 'Great Turkestan'), and others.
A member of the CPSU since 1958, a member of the USSR Union of Writers since 1980.
Awarded a Certificate of Honor from the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz SSR.
