Prose writer, poet Zura Sooronbaeva

Prose writer, poet Zura Sooronbaeva was born in the village of Djolgolot in the present-day Ak-Suu district of the Issyk-Kul region in a peasant-poor family. In 1940, she graduated from high school. She began her labor biography that same year as a secretary-typist at the editorial office of the regional newspaper "Ysyk-Kol Pravdasy."

From 1959 to 1974, she was a correspondent for the inter-district newspaper "Kommunistik Emgek," and from 1974 to 1979, she worked again as a correspondent for the newspaper "Ysyk-Kel Pravdasy."
She debuted as a poet in 1947. Her first poetry collection "Menin Ailym" ("My Village") was published in 1960. She has created a number of prose works, among which the novella "Astra Gulu," published in 1971, stands out. This novella was released in Russian under the title "Autumn Flowers" in 1979.

Zura Sooronbaeva is the author of the plays "Bride-Man" and "Glow of the Fire." Recently, the writer has tried her hand at the novel genre.

She has been a member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1954 and a member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR since 1953.
She has been awarded medals for "Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945," "For Valiant Labor. In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of V. I. Lenin," "30 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945," "40 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945," "Labor Veteran," an Honorary Certificate, and a Certificate of the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR.
