Prose writer Aman Saspaev

Prose writer A. Saspaev was born in the village of Ken-Suu in the current Tyup district of the Issyk-Kul region in a poor family. After the death of his father, he and his mother moved to China in 1933 to the city of Kuldja.

He received his primary education in Arabic. From 1937 to 1944, he studied at Kazakh and Uyghur schools in the city of Tekes, graduated from high school in Tekes in 1950, and in 1952 entered the Central Institute for National Minorities in Beijing, where he studied Chinese, but left the university in 1956.
He began his work biography in 1945 as a courier in one of the offices in Tekes, served as a private in the police, and worked as a supply manager.
In 1948, he was appointed a correspondent for the Uyghur newspaper "Inqilabi Sharqi Turkistan," and from 1950 to 1952, he worked as a teacher at "Bilim-yurty." With the establishment of the Kyrgyz national section in the Urumqi People's Publishing House in 1956, A. Saspaev was appointed senior editor of this sector.

In 1962, he returned to his homeland and worked as a laborer at the "San-Tash" state farm in the Tyup district until 1967. From 1967 to 1971, from 1973 to 1979, and from 1987 to the present, A. Saspaev has been working as a literary consultant for the board of the Writers' Union of Kyrgyzstan in the Issyk-Kul region. From 1980 to 1987, he was a correspondent for the regional newspaper "Ysyk-Kol pravdasy."
From 1971 to 1973, he studied at the Higher Literary Courses under the Writers' Union of the USSR in Moscow.

His creative biography began in 1947. At that time, A. Saspaev wrote stories and poems in Kazakh and Uyghur. In 1966, his first collection of stories "Gulkayir" ("Mallow") was published in his native language. He is the author of a novel and several collections of novellas and stories. The writer's works have been published in Russian.
The main theme of A. Saspaev's works is the life and everyday life, the social status of immigrants in China.
He has been a member of the Writers' Union of the USSR since 1967.
