Bayzhiev Tashym (1909-1952)


Bayzhiev Tashym (1909-1952) - literary scholar, folklorist, translator, and writer. He was born in the village of Tepke in the Aksu district of the Issyk-Kul region.

He graduated from the philological faculty of the Frunze State Pedagogical Institute (1940).

He worked as the director of a children's home in the Alay district, at the Jalal-Abad Pedagogical College, as a research associate, and head of the folklore and "Manas" sector at the Kyrgyz Branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.

He was a participant and disabled veteran of World War II. In 1950, he was repressed, and in 1952, he died in prison, and in 1955, he was rehabilitated.

His publications include stories, a novella, drama, scientific and critical articles about the epics "Manas," "Semetei," and textbooks.
