Prose Writer Toktobai Mulkubatov
Prose writer T. Mulkubatov was born in the village of Kyzyl-Suu in the Toktogul district of the Osh region into a peasant family. In 1966, he graduated from Kuybyshev Secondary School, and in 1974 — from the historical faculty of the Kyrgyz State University named after the 50th anniversary of the USSR.
He began his labor biography in 1966 as a carpenter at the Toktogul Construction and Installation Management, while also collaborating with the district newspaper "Uchkyn." Since 1974, he has been a correspondent, from 1981 to 1985 — head of the department at the newspaper "Sovet tik Kyrgyzstan," from 1977 to 1981 — deputy editor of the newspaper "Leninchil Zhas," and since 1985 — head of the Publishing Department of the State Committee for Publishing of the Kyrgyz SSR. Since 1986, he has been working as a literary consultant for creative youth in the Union of Writers of Kyrgyzstan.
He has been publishing since 1967. He is the author of two collections of short stories and novellas. He regularly appears in print with essays and journalistic articles concerning the history and culture of the Kyrgyz people and current issues of modernity.
A member of the CPSU since 1970, a member of the USSR Writers' Union since 1987.
