Poet Jolon MamytovPoet J. Mamytov was born on April 1, 1940—March 7, 1988, in the village of Tuleyken, Kara-Suu district, Osh region, in a peasant family. In 1957, he graduated from high school in his native village, and in 1962, he graduated from the veterinary faculty of the Kyrgyz State Agricultural Institute named after K. I. Skryabin. From 1969 to 1971, he was a student at the Higher Party School of the CPSU in Moscow.
He began his career as the chief veterinarian of the "Katta-Taldyk" state farm in the Osh region. From 1965 to 1966, he served as an instructor at the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan, from 1966 he was the head of the department at the Osh regional veterinary laboratory, from 1968 he was a senior editor, and from 1971 he was the deputy chief editor of the Osh regional committee for television and radio broadcasting. Subsequently, from 1974, J. Mamytov was the secretary of the board of the Writers' Union of Kyrgyzstan, from 1975 he was the chief editor of the State Cinema of the Kyrgyz SSR, and from 1980 he was the head of the department at the editorial office of the newspaper "Kyrgyzstan Madyanyaty." In 1984, he was elected secretary of the board of the Writers' Union of Kyrgyzstan, and in 1986 he became the deputy chairman of the board of the Writers' Union of Kyrgyzstan.
His creative biography began in 1954. His first poetry collection "Ottuu Supom" ("I Love Fire") was published in 1969. He is the author of ten poetry collections in his native language and three in Russian. Some of the poet's works have been translated into other languages of the USSR and published abroad.
He created a number of film scripts and librettos. In 1987, his libretto for the opera "Sepil" ("Fortress") was staged at the Kyrgyz Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after A. Maldybaev.
The poetry collection "Suunun Emuru," "The Tale of Brave Chelten," the play for the puppet theater "Children of Mother Tyurkuk," and the script for the animated film "Olokon" were awarded the Lenin Komsomol Prize of the Republic in 1981.
He translated into Kyrgyz the novella in the fairy tale by M. Slutskis "The Braid of Neringa," as well as works by F. Tyutchev, A. Fet, V. Mayakovsky, O. Suleimenov, and others.
He was a member of the CPSU since 1975 and a member of the USSR Writers' Union since 1968.
He was awarded the medal "For Labor Valor."
He was elected as a deputy of the Frunze City Council (1984) of people's deputies, a member of the First May District Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan, and a member of the auditing commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan (1986).
