Prose writer S. Jetimishiev was born in the village of Kichi-Kemin in the Kemin district of the Kyrgyz SSR into a peasant family. In 1953, he graduated from Kichi-Kemin Secondary School, and in 1958, he graduated from the philological faculty of KSU. In the same year, he was appointed as an instructor at the Frunze Regional Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan, and from 1959 to 1966, he worked as a radio broadcasting editor and editor of the youth editorial office of the Frunze television studio of the State Committee for Television and Radio of the Kyrgyz SSR.
From 1967 to 1971, he served as the deputy chief editor of the newspaper "Kyrgyzstan Madeniyaty," from 1971 as an instructor at the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan, from 1973 as the director of the "Kyrgyzstan" publishing house, and from 1975 to 1983 as the chief editor of the magazine "Chalkan."
In 1987, he was elected director of the "Mektep" publishing house, and in 1988, he became the director of the "Adabiyat" publishing house.
His creative biography began in the 1950s, with his first book of novellas and stories "Menin atam" ("My Father") published in 1962.
Most of the writer's works have been translated into Russian, and individual stories have been published in the press of fraternal republics.
He has been a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1969 and a member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1966.
He has been awarded the medal "For Valorous Labor. In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of V. I. Lenin," as well as honorary certificates from the Central Committee of the Komsomol and the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan.
