Poet and playwright K. Malikov was born in the village of Uch-Emchek in the present-day Alamedin district of the Kyrgyz SSR into a peasant family of poor farmers. In 1926, he graduated from a rural primary school, and in 1931, he graduated from the Kyrgyz Pedagogical Technical School in Frunze.
He began his labor biography in 1926 as a correspondent for the newspaper "Erkin-Too" in the Frunze region. In 1931, he worked as the head of a department at the editorial office of the newspaper "Kyzyl Kyrgyzstan," and from 1934 to 1935, he served as the responsible secretary of this newspaper.
From 1932 to 1933, he was the deputy editor of the newspaper "Leninchil Zhas," from 1935 to 1937, he was the head of a department at Kirgosizdat, and from 1944 to 1946, he was the chief editor of the magazine "Sovettik Kyrgyzstan."
From 1937 to 1942, K. Malikov was a secretary, from 1947 to 1949—deputy chairman, from 1954 to 1959—responsible secretary, and from 1959 to 1973—literary consultant of the Union of Writers of Kyrgyzstan.
In 1942, he worked as a commissioner for a labor column during the construction of the Voroshilov Hydroelectric Station, from 1943 to 1944—head of the literary section, and from 1951 to 1953—director of the Kyrgyz Drama Theater.
He began publishing in 1928. His first poem "Spring Plowing" was published in 1928 in the newspaper "Erkin-Too." In 1931, his play "Tendik Kurmany" ("Death for Equality") was published as a separate book. K. Malikov is one of the founders of Kyrgyz Soviet professional literature. In the 1930s, he primarily worked in the genres of prose and poetry. During these years, he created stories such as "Red Alai" (1934), "The Happy Girl" (1935), "The Yellow Kid" (1935), and others, as well as poems "Japar and Sharipa," "Victims of Pomposity," and others. Collections of poems were published, including "Poems of Kubanychbek" (1938), "Selected Poems" (1938), "New Poems" (1939), and others.
In 1935, K. Malikov created a cycle of poems "Teatrdyk Yrlat" ("Poems for the Theater"), which made a significant contribution to the creation and formation of Kyrgyz pop music.
The poetic works of K. Malikov in the 40s and 50s are characterized by epic scale. Poetic collections published include "Blood for Blood" (1942), "On the Banks of the Chui Canal" (1942), "Friendship and Love" (1949), "Our Land" (1950), "Kadir Ake" (1952), "Lights in the Mountains" (1957), and others. The writer made a significant contribution to the development of national dramaturgy and theater. In the 1950s, he created the play "We Are Not Who We Were..." in collaboration with A. Kuttubaev, which reflects the influence of collectivization on the psychology and consciousness of ordinary people. In 1950, a collection of plays "Bizdin Jer" ("Our Land") was published. His plays "At the Height" (1936-1958), "The Circling Mountain Eagle" (1964-1965), "Girls of One Street" (1960), "Osmonkul" (1969) were very successful.
In 1964, his memoirs "Menin Zamandastarym Jana Kalamdastarym" ("My Contemporaries and Fellow Writers") were published, and in 1977, the story "Azymattlar" ("The Good Guys") was reworked. K. Malikov actively participated in the study and publication of the epic "Manas." Together with A. Tokombaev, he worked for many years on a consolidated three-volume version of this epic. This version has been translated into Kazakh, Tajik, and Uzbek languages. He is one of the translators into Kyrgyz of the party anthem "Internationale" and a co-author of the State Anthem of the Kyrgyz SSR. He also translated some works of A. S. Pushkin, M. Yu. Lermontov, V. V. Mayakovsky, T. G. Shevchenko, S. Stalsky, and others.
In 1978, K. Malikov was awarded the State Prize of the Kyrgyz SSR named after Toktogul Satylganov for the play "On High Land."

Awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, three Orders of the Badge of Honor, the Medal "For Valorous Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945," and Honorary Certificates from the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR.
K. Malikov was a delegate to the I Congress of the Union of Writers of the USSR. He was elected as a deputy of the Frunze City Council of People's Deputies (1939, 1956).
