Klimov Kasym
Editor. Honored Worker of Culture of the Kyrgyz SSR (1974). Member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1946. Born on March 6, 1926, in the village of Uch-Emchek, Talas District, into a peasant family of modest means. After graduating from high school in 1942, he worked as the responsible secretary of the newspaper in the Budennovsk District. From 1943 to 1945, he was a student at the Kyrgyz Teacher Training Institute, but completed his higher education 10 years later—in 1955 (due to a prolonged illness) at the Kyrgyz Pedagogical Institute.
K. Kaimov underwent serious journalistic training. From 1951 to 1956, he worked as a correspondent, responsible secretary of the Talas regional newspaper, head of the department of the magazine "Zhas Leninchi," responsible secretary of the newspaper "Kyrgyzstan Pioneri," and editor of the magazine "Zhas Leninchi." Journalism helped to reveal K. Kaimov's literary talent. From 1955 to 1961, collections were published in the Kyrgyz language by the publishing house "Kyrgyzstan": "Last Meeting" (stories), "Delusion" (novella and stories), "Path to School" (stories), and the novel "Atai," as well as in Russian—"Night at the Pass" (novella and stories). A writer recognized by readers and critics, he led popular magazines "Chalkan" (1956—1959) and "Ala-Too" (1959—1963).
From 1963 to 1966, K. Kaimov headed the script-editing board of the studio "Kyrgyzfilm," editing documentary films "Three Answers to the Mountains," "Change," "Boomerang," and the feature film "Everyone Has Their Own Path" (dir. M. Kovalev). In 1967, he returned to journalistic and literary activities. From 1967 to 1973, he led the new newspaper "Kyrgyzstan Madeniyati," and from 1974 became the second secretary of the
Union of Writers of Kyrgyzstan. Works published in the Kyrgyz language include "Steppe Star" (novella and stories), "Days Unlike Each Other"; in Russian—published by "Soviet Writer"—"Night at the Pass" (novella and stories), "Atai" (novel).
Awards—medal "For Labor Distinction" (1958).
