Shukurov Japara Shukurovich (1906-1963),
linguist, Turkologist, organizer of science in Kyrgyzstan, candidate of philological sciences
Kyrgyz. Born in the village of Syntash, Kant district, Chui region.
A graduate of the Tokmok orphanage. Participant of the Alai-Pamir expedition of the People's Commissariat of Education of the Kyrgyz SSR (1927).
Graduated from the Central Asian State University. Worked as a research associate at the Central Asian State Planning Committee (Tashkent), director of Kyrgyz State Publishing House, director of the Institute of Language, Literature, and History, People's Commissar of Education of the Kyrgyz SSR, first deputy chairman of the Presidium of the Kyrgyz branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences, head of the sector of the Institute of Language and Literature of the Kyrgyz SSR.
In 1948-1949, he faced persecution on charges of nationalism due to his research on the language of Moldokylych. Dissertation topic: “The Language of Moldokylych” (On the History of Kyrgyz Writing).
One of the authors of the "Russian-Kyrgyz Dictionary" (1944, 1955, 1957, 1975, 1988). Made a significant contribution to the preparation of the "Kyrgyz-Russian Dictionary," published by Academician K.K. Yudakhin (1965), "Кыргыз тилинин тушундурме сездугу" (1969, 1984).
Deputy and member of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR of the 1947 convocation.
Awarded the Orders of the Badge of Honor, the Red Banner of Labor, the Red Star, the USSR Medal, and the Honorary Certificate of the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR.
