Tokombaev Ulan Aliyevich
Screenwriter. Member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1968. Born on February 10, 1941, in the village of Kureneekeev in the Kemin district. After graduating from high school in Frunze in 1958, he worked for two years as a center worker and planer at the bicycle assembly and physical instruments factories. His passion for sports led him to the Kyrgyz Institute of Physical Culture in 1960. Due to health reasons, he left and enrolled in 1963 in the scriptwriting faculty of VGIK.
In 1967, U. Tokombaev returned to Frunze and initially served as a senior editor, and from 1968 as the chief editor, playing a direct role in the creative establishment of the "Kyrgyztelefilm" studio. In 1973, he became the responsible secretary of the magazine "Literary Kyrgyzstan." Since 1975, he has worked as a correspondent for "Literary Gazeta" in the Kyrgyz SSR. In July 1978, he again headed the script and editorial board of "Kyrgyztelefilm."
As an editor, U. Tokombaev participated in the telefilms "Road to Paris" (1968) by A. Studzinskiy, "Ak-Meyor" (1969) by M. Ubukeev, "Tenant" (1968) by U. Ibragimov, and others. As a screenwriter, he distinguished himself in the documentary films "The Secret of the Melody" (1968, "Kyrgyztelefilm," diploma for directorial debut at the VIII review-competition of filmmakers of Central Asia and Kazakhstan in Almaty in 1969), "Manezh" (1968, "Kyrgyzfilm"), "No Discount for Age" (1974, "Kyrgyzfilm"), "Evening School" (1975, "Kyrgyzfilm"), "Meeting with a Poet" (1976, "Kyrgyzfilm"), and the artistic short film "Spring Rainbow" (1980, "Kyrgyztelefilm"). He also tried his hand at directing the feature film "When Shadows Retreat" (1971). His scripts "Overnight Stay" (film novella, newspaper "Soviet Kyrgyzstan," 1967, December 10, 12), "Red Shoots" (tale for cinema, 1975, "Literary Kyrgyzstan," No. 2, pp. 41-75), and others have been published in print.
Member of the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR since 1969.
