Prose Writer, Playwright Anatoly Sorokin

He began his labor biography in 1957 as an accountant in his native state farm.
From 1962 to 1966, he worked in gold mines in the Far North and Yakutia, then for some time worked in the film industry in the Shadrinsk and Katai districts of the Kurgan region.
Since 1967, A. Sorokin has been engaged in journalism: he was a literary employee of the Dolmatov District newspaper "Path to Communism," the Kriulyan District newspaper "Victor" in Moldova, and since 1971, he has been an editor at Moldovan Radio.
From 1975 to 1978, he was a senior correspondent for the newspaper "Soviet Kyrgyzstan," and from 1976 to 1978— head of the department at KirTAG.
He has been published since 1963.
In 1985, the first book of the novel "Earthly Firmament" was published, and in 1988— the second book of this novel. He is the author of several novellas and short stories published in the magazines "Polar Star" and "Siberian Lights," as well as plays "And There Will Be a Day of Judgment" (1984), "Bell of Eternal Battle" (1985), "Eight Points on the Richter Scale" (1988).
Member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1987.
