Dyadyuchenko Leonid Borisovich

Film dramatist. Born on February 16, 1934, in Leningrad in a family of a political worker of the Red Army. Since 1939, he has lived in Kyrgyzstan, graduated from high school in Frunze, and the mining and geological faculty of the polytechnic institute (1957). From 1957 to 1961, he worked as a junior researcher at the Geological Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR.

He began his literary activity in the 1950s with the publication of poems and essays in the newspapers "Komsomolets of Kyrgyzstan," "Soviet Kyrgyzstan," and the magazine "Literary Kyrgyzstan." As a correspondent for "Soviet Kyrgyzstan" (since 1961), he traveled throughout the republic, studying the history, life, and culture of the Kyrgyz people. In his reports, essays, and stories, L. Dyadyuchenko deeply reveals the fundamental changes in the economic and cultural life of the republic.

From 1962 to 1974, collections of poems ("Thirst," "Coal"), essays ("The Guide from Charkvak," "In the Caves of Kyrgyzstan," "Without Need — to Zardaly," "Family Silver"), and the novella "Scarabaeus" were published by the publishing houses "Mektep" and "Kyrgyzstan."

The rich journalistic experience and literary talent of L. Dyadyuchenko were fully manifested in his work on the scripts of documentary films "Happiness of the Mountain Region" (1963), "In the Snows of Alai" (1964), "Cape of the Dun Horse" (1966), "Architect of the Scene" (1966), "Outpost" (1967), "Pamir — the Roof of the World" (1969), "Chingiz Aitmatov" (1969), "Absolute Age" (1969), "Summit" (1970), "You Are Walking Through Life" (1973), "Soviet Kyrgyzstan" (1974).

Since 1971, L. Dyadyuchenko has been engaged in editorial work at the "Kyrgyzfilm" studio. He edited the feature films "At the Old Mill" (1972) by U. Ibragimov, "Echo of Love" (1974), "White Steamboat" (1975) by B. Shamsiyev.

In 1973, a full-length feature film "Waterfall" (director 10. Boretzky) was made based on his script. In 1974, the script "The Eye of the Needle" (co-authored with A. Dzhalybekov) was recognized as the best at the republican competition in honor of the 50th anniversary of Soviet Kyrgyzstan, and based on it, director G. Bazarov made a film of the same name. The script was included in a collection published by the Moscow publishing house "Art" in 1975.
