 Poet Svetlana Tokombaeva (Suslova) Poet S. Tokombaeva was born on March 13, 1949, in Chita in a family of a doctor. Since 1952, she has lived in Frunze. In 1966, she graduated from Secondary School No. 51 in Frunze, and in 1971, she graduated from the philological faculty of KGU.

In 1965, while still a schoolgirl, she worked as a announcer for the Kant District Radio, and during these years she collaborated with the newspapers "Banner of Victory" and "Kyrgyzstan Komsomol". Her first poems appeared in the pages of these newspapers. Since 1971, she worked as an editor at the State Television and Radio Committee of the Kyrgyz SSR, a correspondent for the newspaper "Mugalimder gazetasy", and an assistant to the responsible secretary of the newspaper "Kyrgyzstan Komsomol". Since 1975, she has worked as a literary employee and head of the poetry department at the editorial office of the magazine "Literary Kyrgyzstan".
Her first poetry collection "My Asia" was published in 1978. She has been actively translating works of Kyrgyz poets into Russian. Her translations include poetry collections by A. Tokombaev, A. Osmonov, M. Abylkasymova, R. Shukurbekov, and others.

In 1982, the poetry collections "My Asia" and "The Fifth Season" were awarded the Lenin Komsomol Prize of the country.

A member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1988, a member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1979.

Elected as a deputy of the First May District Council of People's Deputies of Frunze (1986).
