Urkash Mambetaliev


Urkash Mambetaliev (born 1934) is a soloist-manaschi of the Kyrgyz State Philharmonic named after Toktogul (since 1961), a member of the Union of Writers of Kyrgyzstan (1982), and a People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic (1994).

Urkash Mambetaliev was born in the village of Taldy-Suu in the Tyup district of the Issyk-Kul region. The beginning of his creative activity is associated with the Issyk-Kul Regional Drama Theater, where he worked as an actor. His first meeting with Sayakbay Karalaev left a deep mark on his soul and marked the beginning of his storytelling career.

Mambetaliev's performances have been recorded on the republican radio, including four major episodes of the epic "Manas," such as "The Birth of Manas" ("Manastyn terelushu") and "The Quarrel of Almambet and Chubak" ("Almambet menen Chubaktyn jol talashy"). Additionally, to the tune of "Manas," he sang excerpts from the dastans "Er Toshduk" and "Cholponbay."

Urkash Mambetaliev has performed in Japan, Italy, China, Turkey, and Pakistan.
