Dramatist Bakyt Omuraliev


Dramatist B. Omuraliev was born in the village of Jany-Aryk in the Jumgal district of the Naryn region in a family of civil servants. Having lost his parents at an early age, he was raised in the Chayek orphanage from 1941 to 1949. In 1951, he graduated from high school in the village of Chayek, and in 1955 he graduated from the Tashkent State Institute of Theatre and Art named after A. Ostrovsky. From 1973 to 1975, he was a student at the Higher Literary Courses under the Union of Writers of the USSR in Moscow.
From 1955 to 1973, B. Omuraliev worked as an actor at the Kyrgyz Academic Drama Theatre, and from 1975 to 1984, he served as a literary consultant and secretary of the board of the Union of Writers of Kyrgyzstan. Since 1986, he has been working in the system of the Ministry of Culture of the Kyrgyz SSR.
B. Omuraliev has been engaged in literary creativity since 1960. He has written plays such as "A Father's Word is Honor," "Unforgettable Days," "I Know, the Mountains Know," "Siren," "The Bridge of Jolchubek," and others, which are included in the collection of selected plays "Zhacyrik" ("Echo"). His drama "I Know, the Mountains Know" has been published in both Russian and Ukrainian. B. Omuraliev has authored a number of journalistic works dedicated to the problems of developing Kyrgyz national art, as well as the work of leading masters of Kyrgyz theatre and cinema.
He has been a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1968, a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1971, and a member of the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR since 1982.
He has been awarded the medal "For Labor Distinction," a Certificate of Honor from the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR, and Certificates of Honor from the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan.
