Dramatist M. Jakypov was born on May 26, 1923, in the village of Sary-Bulak, Soviet District, Osh Region, in a peasant family of poor farmers.
In 1940, he graduated from high school in his native village, and in 1962, he completed a three-year directing course at the Republican House of Folk Art.
In 1942, he was drafted into the ranks of the Soviet Army and served at the front.
Since 1946, he worked in cultural institutions of the Alay District: as the director of the House of Culture (1946), head of the district culture department (1978-1981), director (1983), and chief director (1960) of the people's theater, and director of film distribution (1981-1983).
Later, he worked as a senior methodologist at the Republican House of Folk Art, and from 1970 to 1976, he was a senior editor at Kyrgyz Radio Broadcasting.
He has been engaged in creative work since 1955. He is the author of many one-act and multi-act plays: "Girl from the Mountains," "Who is to Blame?", "White Beauty," essays and stories about pressing issues of rural life. In 1961, a book of essays titled "In the Village of Heroes - Holders of Golden Stars" was published. He has several collections of plays.
Honored Worker of Culture of the Kyrgyz SSR (1968).
Member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1959, member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1967.
Awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, medals "For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945," "Labor Veteran," and Honorary Certificates from the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR.
He holds the badge "For Excellent Work in the Field of Culture" from the Ministry of Culture of the USSR.
Elected as a member of the Alay District Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan.
