
Today, the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Joomart Otorbaev, participated in a ceremonial event dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the birth of the state and military figure Shabdan — the hero.
Speaking at the event, the Head of Government noted the special contribution of Shabdan Zhantai uulu – Shabdan the hero in the establishment and development of Kyrgyz-Russian relations and in building Kyrgyz-Turkish cooperation.
“Shabdan the hero is one of the most outstanding people of his time, a bright leader who had a tremendous spiritual influence on the people,” said Joomart Otorbaev.
The Prime Minister highlighted Shabdan the hero's efforts in developing the education system and creating Muslim assemblies, as well as opening madrasahs and schools where Kyrgyz children learned in their native language. Shabdan the hero actively defended the property rights of Kyrgyz people to land and fought for the representation of indigenous peoples in legislative bodies.
“The history of Shabdan the hero's life, his path as a warrior and statesman, his wisdom and human qualities, his high sense of patriotism and love for the Motherland – all this will remain in the annals of Kyrgyzstan's history as an example to follow and an inspiration for future generations,” said Joomart Otorbaev.
