Otorbaev Kaip (1922),
Doctor of Geographical Sciences (1971), Professor, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR
Kyrgyz. Born in the village of Tegermen in the Kemin district of the Chui region.
Graduated from the Kyrgyz Agricultural Institute (1950), postgraduate studies at the Institute of Geography of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1954).
Worked as head of department, director of the Institute of Economics of the Academy of Sciences, Chief Scientific Secretary of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR, director of the Institute of Economics of the State Planning Committee of the Republic, rector of KGU, and chairman of the KEPs under the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Specialist in the field of economic and social geography, placement of productive forces.
Awarded the Orders of the Great Patriotic War, the Red Banner of Labor, and medals of the USSR.
Published more than 300 scientific works, including over 40 monographs, 8 textbooks, and teaching aids.
Under his supervision, 4 doctoral and 10 candidate dissertations were defended.
