In Kyrgyzstan, work is underway to analyze the progress of the project "Sustainable Restoration of Landscapes of the Kyrgyz Republic." This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) on October 22. On the second day of the mission, representatives of the MES conducted field inspections of project sites in the Jalal-Abad region, where work is planned to strengthen riverbanks and combat mudflows to protect the local population from natural threats. During the visit, sites in the Kökchököz area of the Bazar-Korgon district, as well as in the Suzak district, were assessed, where there is a high risk of mudflow occurrence. During discussions, technical aspects were addressed, including the development of a feasibility study (FS) and project and estimate documentation (PED). Experts also evaluated the condition of existing dams and discussed the plan for upcoming engineering works. The project includes the reconstruction of 21 sites at risk of mudflow and flooding processes. It is expected that the implementation of these measures will protect more than 4,000 households and over 5,500 hectares of agricultural land, thereby enhancing the safety of the population and the resilience of the territories. The KG RESILAND project is being implemented by the Ministry of Emergency Situations with the support of the World Bank.
