The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held a meeting with a delegation from the United States of America led by Donald Trump's special envoy, Sergio Gor.

According to the press service of the country's president, various issues were discussed, including preparations for the "Central Asia — USA" summit ("C5+1"), which is scheduled for November 6 in Washington.

The American delegation also included Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau and other officials.

The meeting emphasized the importance of further strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the USA, as well as the implementation of previously reached agreements discussed in New York on September 23.

Mirziyoyev and Gor noted the positive dynamics in political dialogue, active exchanges at various levels, and the growth of business contacts. The increasing volume of mutual trade was also mentioned, and a successful visit by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce mission to Uzbekistan took place in early October.

The parties expressed their intention to continue joint work on projects in areas such as industry, finance, critical minerals, energy, digitalization, and agriculture, based on the approved "roadmap".

During the negotiations, issues related to strengthening cooperation in the fields of security, combating terrorism and extremism, as well as illegal migration, were also discussed. Opinions were exchanged on relevant global and regional issues.

It was previously reported that U.S. President Donald Trump invited the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan to participate in the "C5+1" summit, which will take place on November 6 in Washington.

Before the summit, Sergio Gor and Christopher Landau visited Uzbekistan, where they held meetings with representatives of American companies operating in the country and the leadership of the republic. As part of their tour of Central Asia, they also plan to visit Kazakhstan.

The first "C5+1" summit took place in September 2023 in New York during Joe Biden's presidency. It was attended by the leaders of Kazakhstan — Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyzstan — Sadyr Japarov, Tajikistan — Emomali Rahmon, Turkmenistan — Serdar Berdymukhamedov, and Uzbekistan — Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as then-Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The main focus of this event was on issues of cooperation in the field of "green" energy and regional security.
