Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, refuted U.S. President Donald Trump's claims that American airstrikes destroyed nuclear facilities in Iran.
“Trump proudly claims that they have destroyed Iran's nuclear industry. Well, let him keep dreaming!” he stated.
Furthermore, Khamenei rejected Trump's proposal to resume negotiations, emphasizing that “if the deal implies pressure and predetermined outcomes, then it is not a deal, but rather blackmail and imposition.”
According to Khamenei, U.S. interference in Iran's nuclear program is erroneous and inappropriate: “What business does America have with the existence of nuclear facilities in Iran? These interventions are inappropriate, wrong, and coercive.”
At the same time, the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, confirmed the information that Tehran has canceled the agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency, which was signed in September. This decision was made in light of the restoration of UN sanctions by Western countries. “The agreement has been canceled. If the agency has a new proposal, we will consider it,” he noted.
Earlier, Iran and the U.S. held five rounds of indirect negotiations regarding the nuclear program, which ended with a 12-day Israeli air aggression in June, during which Iranian nuclear facilities were attacked. Tehran denies Western accusations of developing nuclear weapons, emphasizing that its nuclear program is purely peaceful.
In June, Iran refused to grant the IAEA access to its nuclear facilities, accusing the international organization of passing confidential information to Israeli intelligence services.
The Fars agency, citing Iranian intelligence sources, reported that the IAEA had secretly transmitted confidential letters from Tehran to Israeli spies, revealing the names of Iranian nuclear scientists who became victims of Israeli attacks.
