The European Union has confirmed the approval of the 19th package of sanctions against Russia. The Danish delegation to the EU reported this, citing information from Reuters.
“We are pleased to inform you that we have just received notification from the last EU member state that lifted its objections regarding the implementation of the 19th package of sanctions. In this regard, the written approval procedure by the Council of the European Union will begin. If no other states raise objections, the package will be approved tomorrow by 8 AM,” the statement said.
Additionally, today the energy ministers of EU countries approved a plan to phase out Russian gas. The press service of the Council of the European Union confirmed this information.
“By adopting today’s agreement, we are sending a clear signal: Europe will not succumb to energy blackmail. By gradually reducing our gas imports from Russia, we are strengthening our overall energy security and taking an important step towards true strategic independence and a transition to clean energy,” said Lars Aagaard, Denmark's Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities.
This plan covers both pipeline and liquefied natural gas. As part of the new sanctions package, the European Union also plans to impose restrictions on transactions with "Rosneft" and "Gazprom Neft," as well as take measures against foreign companies that assist Russia in circumventing established restrictions and continue to acquire Russian raw materials.
