The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, visited the Jalal-Abad region on October 27, where a new training center for the "Alpha" unit of the State National Security Committee (GKNB) was inaugurated.

As reported by the president's press service, in his address, Japarov reminded of the establishment of a specialized service for combating terrorism, which was founded on October 27, 1992. Since then, the "Alpha" group has been carrying out important tasks facing the national security agencies.

“From August to November 1999, the 'Alpha' unit played a key role in eliminating international gangs that invaded the Batken region, as well as in rescuing hostages and ensuring the safety of military personnel. The fighters actively participated in the search for and destruction of band formations in the mountains,” noted Sadyr Japarov.

He also emphasized that "Alpha" has significant experience in combating international terrorism and organized crime, conducting operations to neutralize extremists and apprehend leaders of drug syndicates.

The head of state announced that in early 2025, at the initiative of the GKNB, the construction of a special-purpose training center will begin. “To enhance the personnel potential of the service, modern technologies and the latest technical means will be acquired. This center will also be used for training law enforcement agencies and civil defense in the Jalal-Abad region,” he added.

During the event, the president familiarized himself with the conditions created to improve the combat readiness of the special forces unit and inspected the new building of the training center.

Sadyr Japarov also attended tactical exercises where the "Alpha" fighters demonstrated their skills in neutralizing conditional terrorists and rescuing hostages.

Additionally, the president visited a shooting range, where he observed practical exercises using FPV drones, noting the high level of training and modern technologies employed in the unit.
