President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov announced that soon, specifically in 2.5 years, the republic will completely abandon winter electricity imports. This statement was made during his working trip to the Jalal-Abad region, where he participated in the opening of the "Kara-Kul" hydroelectric power station.

According to Japarov, large-scale energy projects are actively being implemented in the country, which will help achieve independence in electricity supply.

“With the completion of the construction of nearly forty hydropower plants across the country and a new thermal power station in Kara-Keche, we will be able to fully meet our electricity needs in the winter period. If everything goes according to plan, in 2.5 years we will no longer be forced to import electricity in winter, as the electricity produced in Kyrgyzstan will be sufficient,” he emphasized.

Japarov also urged citizens to be patient in the face of temporary electricity shortages in winter, noting that the situation will improve over time.

In addition, the president reminded that in recent years the republic has been paying special attention to the development of "green energy".

“We are creating all the necessary conditions for investors, including stable policies and an open, fair environment, as well as establishing relationships based on trust,” he added.

The launch of the "Kara-Kul" hydropower station is part of a national program aimed at expanding energy resources and transitioning to environmentally friendly electricity production using renewable sources.
