Chekirbaev noted that the sector of small farms, particularly in the southern part of the country, is developing especially actively.
“New enterprises are emerging, which contributes to the increase in domestic production of eggs and poultry meat. Our goal is to fully meet the needs of the domestic market for these products,” he emphasized.
At the same time, the minister noted that Kyrgyzstan lags behind its neighbors—Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine—in grain production, where the cost price is lower and seed production is more developed.
“Many farmers face difficulties in competition, and in recent years there has been a shift towards vegetable growing, as well as the cultivation of fruits and berries. We support this trend, as these areas are more profitable,” Chekirbaev added.
According to the minister, the republic fully meets the domestic demand for livestock products, including large and small cattle, and even exports surpluses. Meat and dairy products continue to remain competitive.
“In the future, we expect a stable supply of meat and dairy products, as well as vegetables. As for berries, the level of provision is about 36%, but there is growth, especially in the raspberry and strawberry segments. We compensate for the missing volumes through imports from Uzbekistan and other warm countries,” Chekirbaev concluded.
