Information on the results of the socio-economic development of the Kyrgyz Republic for January - November 2014


According to preliminary data from the National Statistics Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, for January-November 2014, the real GDP growth was at 3.5%, which is 7.2 percentage points lower than the corresponding period in 2013, while the nominal GDP amounted to 347.8 billion soms.

The real economic growth excluding enterprises involved in the development of the Kumtor deposit was 4.3% (growth of 6.0% in January-November 2013) due to an increase in industrial production (excluding Kumtor) (by 4.0%), construction (by 25.6%), and services (by 3.7%).

The consumer price index for January-November 2014 compared to December of the previous year was 8.9% (for January-November 2013 compared to December 2012 it was 2.8%).

The consumer price index for the corresponding period of the previous year was 7.3% (in January-November 2013 compared to January-November 2012 it was 6.9%).

The exchange rate of the dollar increased by 17.64% compared to the end of November 2013 and by the end of November 2014 amounted to 57.5957 soms/USD.

As a result of January-November 2014, industrial production in real terms decreased by 0.4% (growth of 27.0% in January-November 2013). In the industry excluding Kumtor, growth occurred at 4.0% (decline of 0.2% in January-November 2013) due to growth in the energy sector – by 8.9%. In manufacturing and mining, there was a decline of 1.5% and 4.9%, respectively.

In the services sector, the real growth for January-November 2014 was 3.7% (growth of 5.8% in January-November 2013). The growth of wholesale and retail trade, as well as the repair of cars and motorcycles, was 5.8%, with retail trade growth (excluding trade in cars and motorcycles) at 7.8%.

Services in hotels and restaurants in January-November 2014 increased by 8.9% (growth of 13.4% in January-November 2013).

Postal and courier services in January-November 2014 increased by 4.7% compared to the corresponding period in 2013, while telecommunications services increased by 5.0%, with tariff revenues amounting to 23,340.4 million soms.

Passenger transportation services in January-November 2014 grew by 3.5%. The volume of cargo transported by all modes of transport increased by 3.6% (growth of 4.1% in January-November 2013).

For January-November 2014, the volume of agricultural, forestry, and fishing production amounted to 187,675.4 million soms, a decline of 0.8% (growth of 2.8% in January-November 2013).

For January-November 2014, the level of investment in fixed capital from all sources of financing increased by 22.7% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year (growth of 6.7% in January-November 2013). During the reporting period, 86,936.4 million soms of investments in fixed capital were actually utilized.

The total volume of gross construction output for January-November 2014 amounted to 80,104.5 million soms, with a growth of 25.6% (growth of 16.5% in January-November 2013).

The number of officially registered unemployed at the end of November 2014 was 58.4 thousand people, decreasing by 0.9% compared to the corresponding period in 2013 (a decrease of 3.6% in January-November 2013).

The real growth of the average monthly wage in January-October 2014 was 1.5%, while the nominal average monthly wage amounted to 12,028 soms.

According to preliminary data, the foreign trade turnover for January-October 2014 amounted to 5,809.1 million USD, decreasing by 3.7% compared to January-October 2013, including exports of 1,264.7 million USD (a decrease of 0.7%) and imports of 4,544.4 million USD (a decrease of 4.5%).

Excluding gold, the export volume amounted to 780.2 million USD (a decrease of 7.2%).

Due to the faster growth of import volumes compared to exports, the negative trade balance amounted to 3,279.7 million USD, decreasing by 5.8% compared to the corresponding period in 2013.
