The gross output of agricultural products, forestry, and fishing in January-June 2014 amounted to 52,263.7 million soms, which is 1.4 percent higher than the level of the corresponding period last year.
In the total volume of production, livestock products accounted for 84.5 percent in January-June of this year, crop production - 12.0 percent, forestry - 0.2 percent, fishing - 0.1 percent, and services - 3.2 percent. The share of peasant (farm) households and personal subsidiary farms of citizens in the total volume of production was 94.8 percent.
The growth in the gross output of agricultural products in January-June of this year is mainly due to the increase in production in the livestock sector.
The total sown area for the current year's harvest occupied by agricultural crops amounted to 1,181.2 thousand hectares, which is 0.9 percent more than in 2013. In the structure of sown areas, alongside the increase in areas for grains and legumes, as well as several other crops, the sown areas for tobacco (down by 35.6 percent), oilseeds (down by 12.6 percent), potatoes (down by 2 percent), and cotton (down by 0.4 percent) decreased.
The republic has begun the harvest of agricultural crops.
The slowdown in the harvesting of grain crops across the republic is due to their significant lag compared to the corresponding date last year in the farms of Jalal-Abad (more than 2 times), Osh (by 70.6 percent), and Chui (by 75.6 percent) regions.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Melioration of the Kyrgyz Republic, as of the beginning of July this year, the provision of diesel fuel for harvesting work was 18.3 percent, and gasoline - 18.2 percent.
By the start of the harvest of agricultural crops, according to the Department of Mechanization and Energy Supply of Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture and Melioration of the Kyrgyz Republic, 28 percent of grain harvesters and 15 percent of tractors remained unrefurbished.
In January-June of this year, compared to the corresponding period last year, the volumes of production of major types of livestock products increased.
The production of livestock and poultry for slaughter (in live weight) in January-June of this year compared to January-June of last year increased by 1.3 percent, milk - by 2.5 percent, eggs - by 5.5 percent, and wool - by 2 percent, which is attributed to the increase in livestock and poultry numbers.
The highest growth in the production of livestock and poultry for slaughter (in live weight) was noted in the farms of Jalal-Abad, Chui, Issyk-Kul, and Batken regions, while milk production increased in the farms of Jalal-Abad, Issyk-Kul, and Chui regions.
Overall, the average milk yield per cow in the republic was 930.9 kg. Higher than the national average, milk yields were recorded in the farms of Chui (1352.8 kg), Talas (1036.8 kg), and Issyk-Kul (999.5 kg) regions.
Egg production increased in the farms of Chui, Jalal-Abad, Osh, Naryn regions, and the city of Osh, while wool production increased in the farms of Jalal-Abad, Chui, Issyk-Kul, and Talas regions.
