- In a live broadcast on the platform of the National Bank, Ravshanbek Murzaliev, head of the group overseeing exchange offices, spoke about measures being taken against illegal operations. According to Murzaliev, fines have currently been imposed on 132 individuals operating without a license, totaling 2 million 310 thousand soms. The main violations are recorded in trade markets and near the border with Kazakhstan, especially around the checkpoint "Ak Zhol" and in other parts of the city. Compared to the previous year, the number of individuals working without a license has decreased. He also noted that the danger of illegal exchange points lies in their disguise as legal offices, as well as in setting rates that exceed market values. This puts consumers at risk of fraud. In contrast, licensed exchange offices follow the regulations of the National Bank, use currency detectors, conduct video surveillance, and are required to issue receipts, allowing clients to contact the NBKR in case of disputes. "To reduce the number of violations, the National Bank has simplified the licensing process, increased the license validity period from one to five years, and implemented an automated online reporting system," Murzaliev noted. He also added that a year ago, pavilions near the "Ak Zhol" checkpoint were demolished, but new operators have appeared in their place, although the overall number of such individuals has decreased. "Soon we plan to send appeals to law enforcement agencies against those who systematically violate the law and engage in illegal activities," he added. Murzaliev emphasized that such actions could be considered a criminal offense, so citizens are advised to only use licensed exchange offices of the National Bank.
