Residents of Karakol Protest Against the Creation of a Cattle Burial Ground in the Suburbs
The day before, they held a protest against the decision of the city administration.
The protest against the construction of a burial site for livestock near Karakol took place in the city the day before.
According to the press service of the municipality, about 20 people gathered in the city center around 5:00 PM.
- The mayor, Adyl Kanimetov, came out to them and conducted an explanatory session with the protesters, - said Vesti.kg press secretary Salamat Mederbekov.
He noted that the decision to create a burial site for livestock was made jointly by the city administration a long time ago, and therefore the work will continue. However, he promised to provide details of the project later, after meeting with the mayor.
On June 19, journalist Shavkat Turgaev wrote on Twitter that a protest against the creation of a burial site for livestock in the suburbs was planned in Karakol.
“The authorities want to build a burial site for livestock near the city,” he reported. “Local residents are against it and will come out for a protest today at 3:00 PM. People from my hometown of Pristan are planning to go by bus.”
In the Interior Department of the Issyk-Kul region, Vesti.kg was assured that no protests had taken place in Karakol two days ago.
