The Contribution of Oshan to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War

Osh during the Great Patriotic War.
As everywhere, people lived and worked under the slogan "Everything for the front, everything for victory." During these years, a motor repair plant, a hydroelectric power station of the silk factory, a cotton processing plant, a canning factory, and other enterprises were put into operation. The gross industrial output during the war increased by more than one and a half times compared to 1940. The workers of the city, like the peoples of the country, actively helped the front with their savings and labor, valuable items and bonds, and agricultural products. Only at the end of 1942 - the beginning of 1943, the workers of the city collected 240 units of warm clothing, more than 10,000 pairs of underwear, and over 52,000 pairs of gloves and socks to aid the front. On February 1, 1941, 392,000 rubles were contributed to the defense fund in cash.
The residents of the city contributed their savings to the assembly of the tank column "Komsomolets of Kyrgyzstan," while schoolchildren contributed to the assembly of the tank column "Pioneer of Kyrgyzstan." Warriors from Kyrgyzstan participated in battles for the liberation of Ukraine, Belarus, the Baltic States, Poland, Czechoslovakia, and in the capture of Vienna and Berlin. Thousands of Osh warriors were awarded orders and medals, and three compatriots were honored with the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. For example, Tashmat Jumabaev, under the hurricane fire of the enemy, transported a gun across the Dnieper and, covering the infantry, destroyed 15 enemy machine guns, mortars, and anti-tank guns. The Heroes of the Soviet Union also included graduates of the Osh orphanage I. S. Nemtsov and L. Fukovsky.
