Korshinsky’s Meadow Saxifrage
Status: EN. A rare endemic species found in small numbers and in a limited area. The species has significant scientific value.
Description. Perennial, polycarpic, dark green plant 30-70 cm tall, with a taproot. The caudex is woody, densely covered with remnants of leaf petioles. Stems are round, branched from the base or middle. Basal leaves are in a rosette, on petioles 3-10 cm long. The leaf blade is up to 12 cm long, lanceolate in outline, pinnately dissected; segments are 7-15 mm long, ovate or rhomboid, on short petiolules, shallowly lobed, unevenly serrated, hairy on the underside, glabrous on the upper side. Stem leaves are reduced, the uppermost ones reduced to sheaths. Umbels 4-6 cm in diameter, with 4-15 unequal, spreading when fruiting, hairy rays on the inside. The bracts number 4-5, linear-lanceolate, hairy. The umbels are 15-20-flowered, with unequal, spreading pedicels when fruiting. The bracteoles number 8-9, similar to the bracts. Petals are white, slightly notched, hairy on the outside. Fruits are up to 3.5 mm long, compressed laterally, short and densely hairy.
Biological features. Blooms in July-August, fruits in August-September.
General distribution and in the country. Mountains surrounding the Ketmen-Tyube basin.
Habitat. Rocky-gravelly slopes, screes, limestone outcrops.
Population. Not established. Found as single specimens in habitats. Limiting factors are unknown.
Cultivation. Not conducted.
Existing conservation measures. Not protected.
Recommended conservation measures. Create a botanical reserve in areas of highest plant concentration.

Status: EN. This rare tall plant is a narrowly distributed endemic of Kyrgyzstan and is found only in the Ketmen-Tyube Valley. The species has scientific importance. It inhabits stony and metal slopes, screes, and limestone denudations. Flowering period: July - August, fruiting in August - September. There is no information about the general population in nature (single plants occur in specific habitats), limiting factors, and existing protection for the species. It is unknown in cultivation. The creation of a wildlife area in sites of abundant population is recommended. ```
