Status: VU. Rare species. One of six species of the genus found in Kyrgyzstan.
Description. Perennial plant. The root is taproot. The main stem is thickened, branching at the base, with numerous thin lateral branches significantly exceeding the main stem. Basal leaves are reverse-lanceolate, rounded at the top with a short point; stem leaves are smaller. Umbels are 6-8 rays with a bract of 2-4 unequal lanceolate or linear herbaceous leaflets; umbellules are 7-14-flowered with a bract of 5 reverse-lanceolate herbaceous sharp leaflets. The flowers are dark yellow, folded in half, short. Fruits are up to 2.5-3.0 mm long, ovate-lanceolate.
Biological features. Flowers in VII-VIII, fruits in VIII-IX.
General distribution and in the country. Talas (upper reaches of the Talas River, valley of the Orto-Koshoy River), southern slope of the Kyrgyz Ridge, basin of the Chungur and Barkol rivers, upper reaches of the Chokor River.
Habitat. Gravelly slopes, rock crevices.
Population. Small populations.
Limiting factors. Reasons are not identified.

Bupleurum rosulare Korovin ex Pimenov & Sdobn
Status: VU. This rare small-sized perennial plant is one of six congeners in the flora of Kyrgyzstan. In Kyrgyzstan, this species was found in the upper parts of the Talas and Orto-Koshoy River valleys, at the southern slope of the Alexander Mountain Range, in the Tchungur, Barkol, and Tchokor Rivers. It populates metal slopes and rocky clefts. Period of flowering: July - August, fruiting in August - September. The number is limited, populations are small. Limiting factors are not revealed, and data about propagation and cultivation are absent. At present time, it is out of any protection, thus the inventory of numbers and creation of protected areas in habitats are necessary for the species’ conservation.
