During his Asian tour, which begins in Malaysia, U.S. President Donald Trump informed reporters aboard Air Force One of his intention to involve China in resolving the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, Washington has already imposed "very strong and painful" sanctions against Russia, but he hopes that Beijing can influence Moscow.

Trump emphasized: "I would very much like China to help us with Russia. We have imposed serious sanctions against them... But I would like China to help us."

As part of his visit to Asia, he also plans to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea on October 30 at the APEC summit. The U.S. President hopes to discuss the situation in Ukraine with the Chinese leader and possible ways to pressure Russia, including oil and energy.

China, for its part, noted that "coercion and pressure" will not lead to a resolution of the conflict, but continues to advocate for a peaceful settlement and a ceasefire.

It is worth noting that the U.S. canceled the planned meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, although the Russian side indicated a postponement. Additionally, Washington imposed new sanctions against "Rosneft," "LUKOIL," and their subsidiaries. Putin stated that these measures will have an impact but will not cause critical damage to the Russian economy.

Moscow emphasizes that it is interested in negotiations but does not see a similar desire from Kyiv.
